American Red Cross Lifeguarding

American Red Cross Shallow Water Lifeguarding
Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies in shallow water up to 5 feet and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.

Lifeguard Recertification
The primary purpose of a recertification course is to give participants who are currently certified American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) the opportunity to review the course knowledge and skills within a formal course setting to maintain their American Red Cross Lifeguarding (including Deep Water) certification. Participants must Hold a current certification, or expired by no more than 30 days, in American Red Cross Lifeguarding that included training in deep water 7 feet or deeper.

American Red Cross Pool Activity Leader (PAL)
The purpose of this American Red Cross course is to provide an alternative to having mandated lifeguard staff during camp trips where there will be swimming and aquatic activities at already guarded facilities by providing training to trip leaders which include portions of the American Red Cross Basic Water Rescue, Waterfront Lifeguarding, and Lifeguard Management curriculum.

American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding
The purpose of the waterfront skills module is to teach lifeguards the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to emergencies in non-surf, open-water areas found at public parks, resorts, summer camps and campgrounds.
*Candidates must have a current American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding

American Red Cross Junior Lifeguarding
This course will teach water safety and introduce participants to the duties and responsibilities of a lifeguard; however, this course will not certify anyone to be a lifeguard. It will build a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills in preparation for the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course.
American Red Cross Safety Training For Swimming Coaches
The purpose of the Safety Training for Swim Coaches course is to teach those involved in competitive swimming, including coaches, officials, athletic trainers and aquatic exercise trainers, how to help maintain a safe and comfortable environment for swimmers, prevent accidents and emergencies, and respond to swimmers with illnesses or injuries in water or on land. This program is offered in a blended learning format.

American Red Cross: Lifeguarding with Waterfront Skills
Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over including in aquatic facilities in non-surf open-water areas found at public parks resorts, summer camps, and campgrounds. Participants who successfully complete this course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED and Waterfront Skills valid for 2 years.
