Trains Lifeguarding instructor candidates to teach American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Lifeguarding Blended Learning, Shallow Water Lifeguarding, Aquatic Attraction Lifeguarding, Waterpark Skills, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Bloodborne Pathogens Training.

Prerequisites: Minimum age: 17 years, Possess a current American Red Cross certificate in Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, complete the Online Session for the Lifeguarding Instructor course and complete the precourse session.

Upon Successful completion candidates receive a certification from the American Red Cross as a Lifeguard Instructor valid for 2 years. Former American Red Cross lifeguarding instructors whose certifications expired no more than 2 years before the beginning of the Instructor Crossover/Re-Entry Bridge course and current lifeguarding instructors from other organizations (see list below) are eligible to participate in the Lifeguarding Instructor Crossover/Re-Entry Bridge course.

This in-person Instructor review course is the required course for all Lifeguarding Instructors to re-certify. During this course, Lifeguarding Instructors and Instructor Trainers will participate in an in-water practice and polish skills session in addition to a classroom-based review of Red Cross administrative policies and procedures. Upon successful completion participants will recieve an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification valid for 2 years.

This in-person Instructor review course is the required course for all Lifeguarding Instructors to re-certify. During this course, Lifeguarding Instructors and Instructor Trainers will participate in an in-water practice and polish skills session in addition to a classroom-based review of Red Cross administrative policies and procedures. Lifeguarding Instructors may also choose to attend a brief “test out” session following this course to gain a basic-level Lifeguarding certification. The primary purpose of the American Red Cross First Aid for Severe Trauma Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach the basic level First Aid for Severe Trauma course.

Prerequisite – Instructor candidates in the American Red Cross First Aid for Severe Trauma Instructor course must be at least 16 years of age on the last day of the instructor course and possess a current basic-level certification in First Aid for Severe Trauma or equivalent.

The FAST Instructor Crossover with Skill Session is designed to recognize the previous training of American Red Cross instructors and/or those with current equivalent training from other organizations to allow these individuals to participate in an abbreviated instructor crossover course to become current American Red Cross First Aid for Severe Trauma instructors. The FAST Instructor Crossover with Skill Session can be taught by American Red Cross First Aid for Severe Trauma instructors or First Aid for Severe Trauma instructor trainers.

The purpose of the American Red Cross Advanced Life Support Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach the basic-level American Red Cross Advanced Life Support course.

This course trains American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (TM) candidates to teach courses and presentations in the Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants progress. The courses and presentations include Parent and Child Aquatics Levels 1 and 2, Preschool Aquatics Levels 1 – 3, Learn-to-Swim Levels 1 – 6, three adult courses as well as the Basic Water Rescue and Personal Water Safety courses and more. To enroll, instructor candidates must be at least 16 years of age on or before the last day of the instructor course and successfully complete the precourse session which includes demonstration of swimming skill at Learn-to-Swim Level 4.

This blended learning course combines online content with an in-person session for individuals seeking to become Basic Life Support instructors. Successful participants will receive a Basic Life Support Instructor certification and a Basic Life Support certification, both valid for 2 years. Online material must be completed prior to attending the classroom activities. This course will train instructor candidates to teach basic-level American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED courses. In order to participate in this course, you must possess a current basic-level American Red Cross Adult CPR/AED (or higher level) certification or equivalent and be at least 16 years of age on the last day of the instructor course.

This is a blended learning course consisting of online content, a precourse skills session and classroom segments. Online material must be completed prior to attending the classroom activities. This course is designed to train professional-level rescuers to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants until more advanced medical personnel take over. This course has been updated to meet the 2015 ECC guidelines. This program meets the requirements for Lifeguards needing to recertify their CPR certification. Upon successful completion, participants will receive an American Red Cross Certification in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuers valid for 2 years.
